on the LA-area Love Ride (from Pasadena to Cataic Lake). These days, when I walk outside, he acts like I am the new neighbor he has never met before. Sad.
Follow Ups:
Around my neck of the woods, Harleys are simply seen as "poseur's" bikes, and apologists for "real bikes"...And remember that pedal cycles are not guarantees of safe and healthy excercise, either... A sailing buddy who took his for some enjoyable touring during his holiday had a car run into both him and bike, with fatal results for Ian...
Keep well, Bruce, and take care with that mountain-bike...
Bill.
middle-aged guys going through a mid-life crisis. I think they have sold more Harleys in the last ten years than they did in the entire history of the company before then.Sorry to hear about your buddy Ian.
PS -- the mountain bike is no problem at all as long as I ride it like an adult. I sometimes have a hard time remembering that.
which probably accounts for the resentment ("Pathetic, overweight slobs, with dismal reflexes and even worse judgement, being let out on the roads?... They ought to be locked up, both for their safety, and ours!") frequently generated...Keep your bike excercise sensible, Bruce...
Bill.
to suddenly decide they are "rowdy biker types". There are some humorous moments to be had observing them, though. They climb off their steeds with obviously aching backs and walking as if they had been riding horses all day. Sometimes they take their "biker babes" with them. They are usually at an age and physique that they have noooooo business wearing scimpy tank tops.Oh well, it is never too late to be the child you always wanted to be, is it?
Sensible? I try that every so often, and it does work.
