Every ad on Audiogon claims, "Mint condition from a pet free, kid free, smoke free environment".

It's only the audiophiles who sell their stuff who suffer from the deprivations you mention.
It's well known that the residue from tobacco smoke shortens the life of circuit boards. I don't think there have been any other studies on other types of smoke. You never know - that other kind of super resinous smoke residue might actually damp the components creating a smooth and relaxed presentation.
If you have every bought a piece of equipment used by a smoker, the disgusting sludge that comes off it when you clean the cabinet would make you puke. I can imagine that it coats the inside circuitry, switches and control pots. Some stink so bad you want to put them in the garage for a few weeks to air out.

the third . . . well . . . college provided a lifetime of green memories. If only I could remember them. :)
*excited*
I have two cats and I noticed most tube guys have cats..AS far as weed goes we to blow shot guns to our frat cat back in the late 70s so you cant say we were selfish hehe.
I love pet and my kid.I have a big trained german sheppard. So nobody would take a chance trying to steal my equipment.
My kid love music. Real music, not c-rap. He's learning how to handle the turntable tonearm. But I haven't let him put the needle on the record yet.
what bottered me was when he was younger and always want to listen those repetitive child song. ( you know Barney's...)
We just realize that many potential customers.........DO.
Those potential customer love there kid there pet but don'T love ours. They do like our weed... nice customer!
have hair that gets into things and cats piss on things. i love my cats but could kill them sometimes.
In my ads I sometimes put I don't smoke but I do have animals, although they don't play w/the stereo.
Ever get a piece of equipment, say an amp, from a smoker's home? It stinks! At least for a while, like several weeks until the odor producing chemical burn off. The stench can be cloaked by a drop or two of concentrated deodorizer on a heat sink. What is lot harder to get rid of is the yellow film that forms on the components inside the component. This cuts into the resale value of the equipment -- ANOTHER reason not to smoke.

Easy. Dogs and kids = noise. As for killer weed, just like a friend said when he heard my rig:
Pets pee, sleep, shed, and scratch equipment.Kids get slimy snot fingers and other gooey stuff on the equipment.
….. Luckily for me one lot is banished outside and the other lot is well trained. (however both are somewhat interchangeable)I don’t allow smoking anywhere in my home or car or boat. (I’m not even keen on the smokers themselves being in my home – they stink!!)
Is a fun place here @ Stalag Sox

Don't the neighbors complain about the noise?
........I don’t have any close neighbours. (any more)My pets got booted outside about 13 years ago now. ( they try to get in all the time too)
I have been very lucky with my audio gear and haven’t suffered any damage from pets or kids.
