I used to get a real kick out of that.
Follow Ups:
teflon shielded cabling today.
Prof. I Lirpa gave me word that he had a big interest in using George Louis' services to correct inverted preamps. I made mention of that, but the thread has since been moved to the Isolation Ward.....
simple, just put sorbothane pucks on their tops and turn them over!

Except for the use of internal hockey pucks instead of external sorbothane pucks....Lirpa also claimed that the preamp would likely sound almost exactly the same, but at least it's no longer inverted. (The correction wouldn't pass a АБЖ test.)
And you got to believe the Professor- There is nothing worse than an inverted preamp.
As a matter of fact Dr. Lirpa has an even better solution, the Lirpa Universal Audio Chair, which comes in genuine Naugahide, artificial leather, sheepskin (for those academic types) or cowhide, complete with seatbelts and shoulder harness inside a audiograde aluminum spherical frame. Once you strap yourself in you simply push a button and the chair inverts YOU. It produces a unique listening experience. Of course in the Southern Hemisphere it rotates in a counterclockwise direction.
Check out AudioReview. Also making a CD player apparently.
Interesting that you should mention him at this time, see Bill Gaw's nostalgic prose at Enjoy the Music. It seems that his satire is missed by more than a few.
. . he didn't recommend putting photos in the freezer.
Start with the current month...
....Prof. I Lirpa gets PO'ed (positively outraged) whenever someone mistakenly calls him "Loof."
they put thing in like the lirpa bazoom 1000 amp with freq resp from dc to daylight! you had to FIND those items in the listings.

WOW! And I thought I was dense! Though, I admit that when I saw the site for sale notice I never associated it with today. I was in the process of issuing invoices but I think I'll wait until tomorrow. I can see my clients thinking they are jokes and not paying.
:> )
I remember his name being Lirpa...but my memory is not too hot. He has been working, in secret, on his 7.1 single speaker surround sound system. But of course this isn't one silly speaker enclosure that hides a bunch of drivers and sits under the tv. No, this is a refinement of his single speaker stereo of years past (I bought one--still running great). One speaker (I have heard it's a Wilson Alexandria) running on a track stopping at each channel location long enough to play a note and then moving on). Can't wait to see it at CES someday.
Yup wasn't sure on the spelling but we have the same guy in mind.
I know he seemed to have a hand in the set up of my system or design of some new component more often than I wanted. :-)
