BMW and Mercedes cost $20-30,000 more comparably equipped.
Check this month's consumer reports. BMW and Mercedes are not recommended as used cars and are recommended to avoid.
Mercedes quality is at an all-time low, rated "poor".
Lexus is better than all three, although a little lacking in soul, imo.
My '94 Seville has never been in the shop. Admittedly I do my own maintenance. It runs and looks like new.
Exactly which of the three cars you discuss have you owned?

........G’day Doggy,What ‘class’ Mercs are you talking about? Or you mean across the range?
Maybe it is only left-hand drive models that are the problem? :o)

though there may be exceptions I don't know about.
Example: Cadillac CTS-V 6.0 403 hp-$51,000. Mercedes E430 5.5 382 hp-$75,000.
Cadillac STS 4.4SC 469 hp-$74,000. Mercedes S550 5.5 382 hp-$95,000.
Cadillac XLR 4.4SC-$107,000. Mercedes SL 5.5SC-$131,000.Believe me I love M-B and would love to have one but they do cost much more than Cadillacs. There is an entry level 4 cylinder M-B C-class for mid-$30k.
I had a BMW in the early '90's and it was good, no problems. I'd buy another if I could afford it now.

Americans get crazy over cars. It's like you're insulting their kids!
My post, resulted in a private email from a Dealer here (D) moniker.Basically - it was along the lines of him wishing the Nazis gassed my parents and family..in fact pretty much the whole continent, and I could some some pretty nasty explitives to myself.
Sometimes, some Americans are really really scary.
Thankfully...the majority seem to have their head screwed on.
American cars, that is. But I have a personal policy of never ever buying another American badged car. American made, yes... but not an American brand. I'll buy just about any other country's car. ;-)
