OK. I love my Jbl 4312 . Great dynamics really big sound. Punchy Bass etc. I tried a pr. Of quad 21L and wow. Killer mid range and highs. But a smaller sound then the jbl. I like the bigger , effortless sound of the jbl but want the killer mids + highs of the quad.
What speaker out there gives me both ?
I like to listen in the near field 8 ft. from the speaker. Must have Bass to the mid.. 30’s . And I mean real Speaker bass not bass that’s sounds lower because of the cabinet.
Most full range only go to 40 Hz. And I don’t want to use a sub. Because the 2 bass tones never match. I tried Tannoy nfm 10. but the sound was too stiff. Like a rubber band stretched too tight. And I don’t like the metal tweeter that tannoy uses. The Jbl at 88db. Has a more relaxed sound then the tannoys 92 db. So what do I do?
I can get the JBL crossover rebuilt with better parts . that one option.
What about Splendor or Hibrath ?

My price point is $1000- 2000.
(though I certainly liked the Spendors I have heard). Finding a speaker that 'does it all' is tough. Me .... I just go for the big smile. However I get it. And don't much worry about how high or low. I currently get a nice strong clean 50 hz, with nothing after say 40. More than ample for me, and even quite tuneful (rattling the rafters in my small room doesn't bring it). Still have lovely mids (though not quite electrostatic). Gonna try some 12"s for the heck of it, we'll see how the mids do then?

The JBL 1400 Array speakers might fit your desires, I don't know about your pocketbook.
Here is one suggestion.
these cost $3000 unforunately. but it you like them, it would be worth it to go into debt. :)
