The only active digital I can tolerate is from Redbook CD. Although DVD-A and SACD don't necessarily give me a "headache", I do feel my ears have been shot after a while, and a non-relaxed feeling, as if my body involuntarily cannot tolerate something in the signal.

I find these the most relaxing and smooth of all Digital. What SACDs or DVD-Audios have you heard? Were they from low resolution PCM Digital?

I'd be **very** interested to see you do a comparison between DSD SACD versus Don Allen's modified CD changer. At least the Don Allen player is affordable, and if you don't like it, I'd even think about taking it off your hands at a fair price.
The best thing you can do is refer me to someone in the Phoenix or Los Angeles area who is willing to demonstrate the playback system. A dealer would be the best suggestion. It seems like not many people in either locale (especially Phoenix) is into SACD.
