sit down and listen to Rage against the machine....?
I know what you mean, some of this stuff was not meant to be listened to critically and so will never make it to a serious listening session.
Whenever I listened to Rage I was usually full of beer and jumping about... so it will never sound the same again.
The mind likes to try new stuff... so why not listen to new stuff. It could be that you are just bored of some of it, as you say, you blasted this stuff at college.
My system plays alot of rock and punk stuff quite well, but also plays classical and almost anything else.... I want to listen to all and everything on my system.
But at 33 your not 'old' so maybe you need something new to remind you how you used to feel when you heard new exciting music. Perhaps the fact it was new is what made you enjoy it... and you didn't feel old then.Enjoy,

why is that the brits consistantly kick our asses at rock? especially now. although i'd like to see the dandy warhols, kasabian and BMRC on the same bill. that would ROCK!but can you listen to kasabian sitting on your couch? not me! at a bar, wasted with your buddies, hell yeah!
"why is that the brits consistantly kick our asses at rock?"Because I think the Brits have had better schooling in music theory, more exposure to classical music, and are not shackled as much in political correctness.
I mentioned Kasabian a bit further down the thread...
I had ripped it to the PC and was having a listen, sort of critically and I enjoyed it. No beer or drug assistance....
I'm not sure why we 'brits' do rock so well, maybe its something in the water. I think it flows to and fro' between the here and the US, one trend starting a counter. Think Beatles and Beach boys... both great in their own way.
Either way, a new tune brings great excitment and gets a fair hearing on both the PC or the main system so I continue listening to anything that is new to me. I found an old local recording of a Vaughan Williams folk piece on an old piece of vinyl... got me nearly as excited as when I was at a party and the Prodigy were playing live....Fun days, all of them.
