Aren't you a reviewer there?
Follow Ups:
"Aren't you a reviewer there?"Just the three reviews so far due to the house being renovated, but once completed I'll be nagging more manufacturers for equipment whereas I'm being very selective at the moment; hard work making time and room for the system so I've been cherry picking equipment I've heard at shows and in friend's systems and been impressed with.
By the way, I'm not sure if it's required as I don't get paid for reviewing, but if so how do I change my moniker to (R)?
Talk about self interest and reasons for avoiding the on line zines (maybe with the exception of pfo which has a long history and prints some great non-review stuff)!!! How do I change my moniker indeed! Makes me real confident in your other abilities....That you don't see the conflict of interest makes it worse still.

Worse still?Worse than what exactly?
the original question was not about the usual 'conflict of interest' or reviews being driven by advertisers, but was about 'quakery' in reviews.
In my reply to Tom I plainly stated "...in my reviews anyway" so if you think I was trying to plug Dagogo while posing as in impartial reader I have similar doubts about your abilities to sniff out any 'conflicts of interest', and if Morricab's question was some kind of response intended to 'unveil' my post as being biased I'll similarly direct his attention to the clear statement I gave that I am a Dagogo reviewer; as it is I'll assume that Morricab simply wanted confirmation as I will also assume that conspiracy theorists like yourself who appear to revel in assuming the worst of others are in the minority.
As explained earlier, I don't receive payment for reviews and haven't asked for or received discounted equipment.
Please explain to me what you meant then by 'conflict of interest' as I'm all ears, and also explain the difference between me writing reviews for Dagogo and writing reviews for the Audio Asylum as I've written more for the latter than the former.
I have mentioned and recommended participation of the Audio Asylum to readers at Dagogo by the way, but perhaps the fact I'm registered here means I shouldn't?
Oh dear........
Just wanted confirmation; however, for the sake of clarity I suggest changing your moniker to R.
....and in fact yesterday I think I finally succeeded in changing my moniker. This is the first message I've posted since doing it however so fingers crossed. :-)
Best Regards,
Chris redmond.
.........I did notice you didn’t get an answer. I was wondering what heinous act of unethical behaviour you had supposedly committed and what exact conflict you have? The way some carry on here you would think that an audio review was a matter of life or death. In my own selfish perspective I think the more audio enthusiasts who put in the time & effort to give their opinions about audio gear the better it is for all and sundry.

"In my own selfish perspective I think the more audio enthusiasts who put in the time & effort to give their opinions about audio gear the better it is for all and sundry."
Exactly. If I'm thinking of making an upgrade I want to read as many opinions of a component as possible no matter how brief or over the top, and the Asylum is the best source for garnering opinions especially when you know the posters and have experience of their preferences.Reviewers writing for magazines or 'webzines' are only giving their own particular opinions of equipment, and personally speaking I'd suggest my opinion is no more valid than anyone else with similar experience of audio equipment; becoming a 'reviewer' has not elevated me to another level of expertise of course, it just means I will be able to add to my experience by blagging various review samples from manufacturers, whereas I had reached a stage where I was content with my system and wasn't really interested in anyone else's system or in reading about or listening to new components.
There is no such thing as an objective reviewer by the way, and even objective laboratory measurements are used subjectively.
... but some of the quakery is so over-the-top that I wonder how these people keep a straight face looking in the mirror after reviews.Perhaps they really believe what they write and it'll just take time and experience before they get real :-)
Readers, in a free market, will pick and choose what to read and who to trust. With regard to online zines, an earlier poster mentioned PFO as a mag that he felt was OK (paraphase). At the least, for me, the Clark Johnsen columns in PFO and in hard copy PF that preceeded it, are quite worthwhile and I trust them (him) to quite an extent. That's it for me for now re onliners.
...shit, pies, and rotton vegetables will soon by flying your way.
