I can purchase either of these units with American Express Rewards points. I am considering something like this to place on my night stand and would must likely use it most with headphones.I'd be curious to hear from those that have heard both units.
(I realize their are many more options than these, but remember that these are options for me via rewards points, I am not unlimited in selection.)
Follow Ups:
It has an Aux input.I have met many who own either the mono radio or the stereo and all rave about them.I am yet to listen to one.But judging from the enthusiasm of the owners I presume it is very good. Please check it out.
...going to cost you about the same in points...My mother has a Bose Wave Radio in her seniors apartment and I heard it a couple of weeks ago when we visited her for her 80th birthday.
It sounded pretty good connected to her CD player/receiver as speakers (there must be an 'aux' input). It sounded much bigger than it was.
You ought to be able to listen to them both individually if you look around. For example, there is a Bose store in the shopping area of the Philadelphia airport.
People who criticize Bose, and I'm among them, say you can get better sound for the money.
But if there's no money involved, you'll probably be happy with either one.
..for what it is. A great bedroom table radio. Mine is about 10 years old and I use it in the weekend condo. It doesn't have a headphone jack but it does have line in and line out jacks. I use the input jacks for my XM pod. And I can use the line outs with my little SuperMini headphone amp if needed. It doesn't play CD's but I could plug a little portable in if I needed to.
Thanks Hepcat. For what it's worth, the new ones have a headphone jack, you can see this by going to www.bose.com. If I decided on the Wave, I could purchase one with or without a CD player.
The Boston Acoustics player has a headphone jack,I don't think the Bose has one.
the Bose does, I checked that already. Thanks.
The Boston Acoustics also has a jack for I-Pod or MP3 player.
Lets just say that Boston Acoustics typically is honest
about their audio and they have a good reputation to back it upBose is mostly hype and deception
That wave radio is basically b.s.
I would personally suggest going with the Boston Acoustics unit
I agree, but if he decided to flip it for cash, Bose would likely be the way to go.
I have thought of the resale issue as well and agree with your assessment, but I don't forsee me selling it.As for Bose being hype, I had concern about posting on the forums because of the disdain people have for Bose, not w/o some merit, but that is why I specifically asked for those who have heard both, hoping to not have posts that are simply Bose bashing.
People for the most part are "brand brainwashed". Not all Bose products are "hype". That is like saying all Harley Davidsons are a POS because you had one that would not start properly.Bose (mainly in the professional/industrial) makes good products that are competative..or they would not be in business.
I understand your reasoning for not wanting to post. I do believe however that ALL companies have some overpriced items based on the performance level.
Wave radios are huge sellers because the mass populace equates to them as "good sound". This trickles down to the name brand..in BOTH ways.
In Japan, Bose actually has a higher end speaker..with 10 inch woofer, 2 mids and a DOME tweeter.
