JBL used to use a convention that applying a positive voltage to the black terminal of their raw drivers would result in the cone moving outwards. This was the reverse of nearly all other manufacturers. About ten years ago, they changed this to conform with accepted practice. If you do a Google search, you can find a list of which JBL drivers use which polarity convention.

Darned good thing to know! I will acquire that list.
I do wind up in the back of pro-sound boxes from time to time. Wouldn't want to muck up drivers that are CORRECTLY wired out of sheer ignorance!
