Feedback may or may not mean a thing. I just bought a *mint* Thorens
TD 125 MKII from the original owner on Audiogon. It arrived yesterday
and I opened the box today. The dust cover is broken in 3 places on top and also at the hinges. Two of the breaks are over the arm and it may be damaged. The unit looks O.K., but no where near mint. Unless mint means dirty, like 30 years of dirt. The wood is abused etc. The platter was removed, bubble wrapped and placed in the same box as the table with dust cover attached. Bad move. I paid the asking price, plus shipping and requested that it be well packed to avoid this scenario. I hope things work out.I've bought a lot of audio goods on the net and had no real problems until this year. This was the worst and will probably be my last purchase in this manner. I have not heard from the seller yet and via,
e-mail, offered to send digital photos.Tubes, that's a whole 'nuther story. It seems that certain e-bay sellers are now unloading 'test new' NOS tubes that are that are unlistenable due to microphonics. I'm done there too.
When you can't tell the *good guys* from the bad, it's time to quit.
I feel better now even though I have a $500 turntable jig saw puzzle.

Man, I can't even make a joke here. I was looking forward to your turntable as much as you were!
TT's have the highest rate of "destruction" in shipping. You will even find some retailers that state that they will not ship TT's or that they prefer not to ship them due to the damage rate.Besides that, one should NOT take for granted that someone knows how to pack something, especially pieces with many loose or moving parts. I have given very specific instructions as to how i wanted items packed on several occasions. If the seller thinks that such packing is "overkill" and wants to charge me a small amount for his time and effort, so be it. I would not have bought the item in the first place if i did not want it or think it was worth the asking price.
Always try to cover your "assets" as best possible as most people DO NOT know how to pack properly. Sean

This guy is/was a dealer and I did ask him to pack it well. But WTF for is was not mint and has years of cigarette smoke on it. Los of dings etc. Kinda looks like he flat out lied. Anothe Inmate bought a TT from him a while back and had no problems.
They want the beer first though.Makes whacking the guy with those Nerf bats all that much more fun.

Sounds like you were the unlucky recipient of a lapse of judgment on the dealers part. I hope that you can work things out. Sean

I would call the guy back and ask about this.Mint is mint. Not mint is not.

R,We'll see it is definately not mint. I'll send you a jpg. Things like this seem to happen more often than they did a few years ago. What
gets me hot is that I can't see popping for a cartridge now. I need a cartridge and a broken TT like.....
Looking to sell your old ones?

and only if it seems to work properly, then get a better cart.
