Sure! It seems reasonable since we're now talking about video releases in DVD-Audiobahn, that posts about Blu-Ray and HD-DVD would be welcome... I simply noted that the release in question is available on both formats, and many would prefer to own it on Blu-Ray. I disagree with your statement that "they will both be sticking around"... One will become the new standard, and the other will wither and die. It's nice that you can own two players, but most people won't... they will choose one or the other. I won't trot out the usual arguments for the potential success of either format. I'm not a fanboy for Blu-Ray, I just happen to believe (for a variety of reasons) that they are going to win this "format war"... many people more knowledgeable than myself think that it is already over.
Follow Ups:
..and many people don't.
too many formats and too many mediums. Soon they'll have to start a "CD Interchange" here on the Asylum... we'll be tempted to buy an artist/band's complete catalog on ONE optical disc. I can't wait to see the packaging...sigh.sorry it took so long... Mr. Underhill. That is, if you are who you say you are!
Cheers
If there was one thing I learned from being an early adopter to DVD-Audio (Toshiba SD-9200), it is that it is a VERY bad idea to be an early adopter. Early players are expensive and full of bugs. A year later, things start to settle down, the price drops, the bugs (hopefully) get ironed out, and the format begins to slide into an early death.Hey Zekky, where is your newest killer DVD-Audio release, or have you given up like the rest of us?
The new Ernest Ranglin AIX release is far more exciting to me, on DVD-A. The following is a quote from Dr. AIX.This has been almost two years in the making but the Ernest Ranglin "Order of Distinction" Collectors Edition 2-disc [four sides] is finished. In case you don't know who Ernest Ranglin is...he's an amazing 75 year old Jamaican jazz guitarist that was instrumental in establishing Ska and reggae as dominant forms of world music back in the late 50's and early 60's. On this release, he's joined by Robby Krieger from the Doors, Elliot Easton from The Cars, Laurence Juber, Jeff Lorber, Adrian Young, Monty Alexander, Elan Atias and Alana Davis.
The tracks are incredible and the video is first rate shot in HD. Hanna-McEuen is right behind...maybe next month.
I just looked at their website and did not see that release. Do you have add'l details of when, etc.?
I just bought it, and the Paul Williams-Willy Nelson albums from their website. And have listened to them both. So I know it is there - it was under new releases. They also have an 800 number you can call.
Thanks found it - but it is a DualDisc and I don't buy those (my main player has warnings and I know others who have had repairs done with similar players so I'm not about to go against manuf. instructions). Too bad, I would have bought a DVD-A"There is a Dualdisc [CD and DVD-Audio] and 2-sided DVD-Video disc. Featuring footage from Ernests' home and music history in Jamaica. "
I'm more than happy to sell you the package and burn a custom one off of the DVD-Audio side of the DualDisc. Just let me know...BTW I have sold thousands of DualDiscs and have yet to have anyone return one or have any technical problems with them. THey play in my Acura TL, my Meridian 800 as well as my inexpensive Panasonic R-45.
The Ernest Ranglin disc is really special.

I have seen them for sale at various sites on the internet, but more frequently I buy directly from them. Go to the following website:
