I have both a DVD player with the 6 channel outputs ( Panasonic CP-72), as well as one with only a two channel output (DMR-ES15S). What are some good discs that have high resolution tracks I could play on both? The DMR claims to down-mix full 6 channel DVD-As when possible, but I'm guessing that will not do, I want the disc to have a 2 channel high res track. So far I've picked up Marvin Gaye Collection, amazingly good sound given the fact some of the stuff is 40 years old.The reason is that I have two setups in my main listening room, a surround system and a standard 2 channel system, would like discs that I can play on either.
Music tastes quite varied, just looking for high quality peformances with high quality sound regardless of genre.
Follow Ups:
I'll check these out. I'd be playing them on a system with the CP-72, I have found that the DRM-ES15S has crummy cd audio playback, very harsh sounding at least compared to the Toshiba SD3980.
I have their http://www.hiresmusic.com/ Leon Russell disc and like it a lot. I might buy some more of their stuff. There's plenty of good stuff from Jackson Browne's "Running on Empty" to Mark Knoplfer's "Sailing to Philadelphia" to the Doors "Perception" box set (assuming you can still find a copy on shelves as it sold out quickly) to REM's "Greatest Hits" and several other albums to Neil Young's "Greatest Hits" (actually a 24/96 DVD-V) to several other albums on DVD-A, www.aixrecords.com has great stuff too.
Classic Records make great sounding DVD-Audio 2 channel disc's 24/96[Ant player] and 24/192[DVD-Audio player]] on same disc.
