Does any out there know what transport the Theta company used in their Carmen model player?
Follow Ups:
All of the Theta DVD players used Pioneer transports. Sometimes they would use two different models if Pioneer changed during the production lifetime of the Theta product.I assume you need some repair parts. Won't Theta help you out?
Was checking for a friend. Theta wants 300 to fix and the unit is in FL. Out of warrenty so doing the work himself or having a shop do it can be a big savings. Theta did not respond to the model number for the transport and he would prefer not to ship.
The most common failure in these drives is the laser mechanism. To buy just the part from Pioneer will be $125 plus shipping. So I don't know that your friend will be able to save any money by having another repair facility do the work.He could try to do the work himself, but would then also probably want the repair manual for another $25. If something goes wrong, he will be stuck. And he doesn't even know for sure what the problem is.
I think your friend is being penny-wise and pound-foolish. To spend $300 on a $4000 machine to have the work done properly at the factory seems like the way to go.
I agree 100% ..... but each to their own, and we all have made bad choices, I have.
