In Reply to: Which $300 to $600 range 'higher end' CD player? posted by CW NUT on March 31, 2007 at 15:31:08:
Nothing has made my maggies sing like going the computer route. Well, once I had a great amp that is.The pc is the future, and cds really suck once you don't have to deal with them.
Yet another thing to keep little sophia away from...just store them in the pc and put the originals in the garage.
Follow Ups:
..that has been modified by Bolder Cables. Sounds great even with my modest Panny XR55 - 'poor man's TACT'. No more of these polishes, mats, rewriting CDs with black CDs, isolation for CD player etc !! Also, as Rio mentions, the DVD player can play a CD, SACD or DVD-A (oppo 970 - amazing value for $150) whenever I want or if I have not ripped that.
Word.iTunes is the greatest thing to happen to music that I can ever recall.
CD's do suck. Maybe you just don't know that until you start to live without them. I could never go back and I cannot imagine wasting money on a CD player at this point.
If you would have made statements like that when I was still using cds, I would have thought you were nuts, and "whats the big deal? I can get up and change the cd....".But now, years later, I wondered how I ever listened to music.
I have had a few jobs like that and relationships, and the dishwasher and owning a house, where you look back and wonder how I ever managed to put up with that crap, or did without the device that solved the challenge.
Yes, I agree...no way I am buying a cdp ever again.
The future slowly creeps forward. Did you see that emi is offering their catalog in itunes now?
