Hi all:My DV-37 goes into a bizaare state quite often these days, which started to occured not-so-often about 2 years ago. At some point, while playing a DVD or CD, it stops and cannot be played. Then, pressing eject causes the door to open, but then immediately close. Must turn off player before door closes if you want your plastic disc back! When a CD/DVD is in the player (good luck getting it in there) it whirls and makes little whiny grinding noises, says "stop" and sits there. Never finds the media on the disc. This usually all goes away after a few mins. Turning off/cutting all power no help, but not sure. Tonight, it's not going away.
Can anyone fix/replace these? I have no idea whether this is a transport mechanism issue or the death of the laser. Just want to get it fixed. The player is mod'd, so no Pioneer support.
Thanks!

99% chance that the problem is the laser mechanism. This is available from Pioneer for $122.43, part number VXX2653. You probably will want the service manual as well, part number RRV2320 for a cost of $24.12. Pioneer's parts department can be reached at 1.800.228.7221. Good luck.
I have this same unit. It has had the door problem you described from day one. I sent it back to Pioneer in the first year and they sent it back with the same problem. That player is problematic. I know you said you had it modded but it might be time to give up on it since Pioneer seems uncabable of fixing it and it will be difficult to get it fixed for less that you can buy a new one for.
very interesting! Yes, it's been doing that for three years now. Some months worse than others :). Very, very weird behavior. Any idea why it does that weird sh*t?
Thanks!
