Hi all,
I decided to buy an used Meridian 506 Cdp.
I heard the original (I think 16 bit) and I loved much it.
Now I the possibility to choose among a 16, 18, 20, 24 and a 508/18. Unfortunately I haven't possibility hear them.
Who has had experiences with these players can explain me the differences among the various models? I don't like an hyperdatailled sound but the more possible next to the vinyl...
Thanks so much for help,
Nino
Follow Ups:
I have the original 506. It is smooth and unoffensive but is the most lifeless, dreary player I have ever heard. It lacks pace, rythym, and presence. The transport sometimes will refuse to read a disc until the door is opened and closed again and again and again. This is my third factory installed transport/laser assembly. Todays $1000 players are shockingly better. Buyer beware.
Thanks,
other opinions?...
I had a 506 16 bit and stupidly had it *upgraded* to the 24 bit. The 16 bit sounded better IMHO.
