Well, since the english is not my first language I am not sure if "hard and agressive" would be the more ideal words to describe what I'm feeling with the DP-57. It's true that the Accuphase CDP reviews never talk about agressive and hard sound. However, it seems I'm not the only one experimenting this kind of sound during the first breaking-in days of an Accuphase CDP. Take a look at this thread :http://db.audioasylum.com/cgi/m.mpl?forum=digital&n=106739&highlight=audio+aero+DP-75V&r=&session=
Giantfeet says his recently purchased Accuphase DP-75V leads to listener fatigue after a while. Of course, he was used, like me, to the tubey, highly warm and very relaxed sound of an Audio Aero CDP. But it seems at the end he sold the Audio Aero and decided to keep the Accuphase.
Follow Ups:
I don't question at all what you're hearing now. I mean that once break in is complete that I've never heard Accuphase described as fatiguing. I mean that as encouragement to give it a few weeks.Good luck!

Thanks, I hope that to be truth. I really love all what this CDP is doing except for that bit of harshness.Let's see if some other person posts his opinions.
...unless specific measures are implemented to tame it...HF rolloff, nonoversampling with tube output stage, etc.
fatiguing in digital just means accurate, basically.

HowdyThen I heard the Linn CD12 and later other high end players. Now I have the EMM Labs DAC6e. None of these use any of the ameliorations you talk about. My hypothesis is that many bad implementations of the anti imaging reconstruction filter cause the symptoms that we all hate and that high freq filtering, etc. are band-aids. The real solution is a well implemented high oversampling filter.
My 55V also sounded overly agressive and punchy in its early days. I just put in on repeat for about 12 hours every day for about a week and left in on forever. After a while, things settle down and there was just simply more music thereafter.BTW, I just bought a C2400/A60 pre-power combo and they are already sounding great. However, I also hear its sound changing everyday.
hello
what is the going price range for a used dp57
Thanks
