Sorry I meant to say is the Replay on of the ones that didn't have the FM transmitter cut back on.

I own one but I'm having a difficulty understanding you.It does have an FM transmiter if that's what your asking.
Because of some new FCC regs, Sirius had to cut way back on the FM transmission strengh on the newer receivers. Now on the newer models you're lucky if the receiver can be a couple of feet from the FM radio and still get a decent signal. I know the Replay is an older model and was wondering if this still had the stronger FM transmission signal or if this one of the ones where it's been cut back.
This is news to me.I had mine installed by a professional. In other words the antenna is set up on the trunk of my car and the adapter is somewhere in the car itself, not in the ciggerette lighter. The FM transmiiter in order to work has to be programed to one clear station on your radio. With that said I would'nt think that the newer models would be any different from the older ones.I had the Sirius starmate replay for over a year now with no problems.Could you further explain if I'm missing your point.
Sure, I'll try and do a better job explaining. On the newer models like the Starmate 4, Sirius had to cut back on the FM transmission strength because of the FCC, it's still there, just very weak. So if your Sirius receiver is not hard wired to your radio (or whatever you are using for the output) and you were using the Sirius radio as a FM transmitter to send the signal to your radio via the FM airwaves, the newer models only have a range of a couple of feet (if you're lucky). Some of the older model Sirius radio's could transmit about 100 feet. Since it's an older model, I was wondering if the Replay, had the reduced signal strengh or not.
This was a year ago so bare with me.My starmate replay is placed on the dashboard about two foot from the radio. The car antenna is about five feet away on the rear roof.To answer your question I really don't know if the older version would remedy the problem.I mean you could give the older starmate replay a try but I have no way of knowing with the new FCC guidlines in place. It hasn't affected my starmate replay in any way.
