I had the DP-55V for about two years. A fantastic player, but I was shocked how much better the DP-75V was that replaced it. Recently, I bought an Altmann DAC which is considerably better than the DAC in the DP-75V. I'm using the Accuphase as a transport now. You might want to keep the DP-55V as a transport and try the Altmann DAC.

Great reviews. And, if you live in Minnesota, you have an exstra battery for those really cold nights when even electrons don't move very fast.
Is it the one in the link below? Do you know where I can buy a "turn key" solution with enclosure, power supply and so on?Ole
Yes, that's it. Charles Altmann makes these without enclosures and for a reason. Read through his homepage. Anyway, he sells the DAC himself through the internet and has dealers in some countries. I can see that you're in Norway, so it shouldn't be a problem getting it from Germany. I'm sure that the Optima Red Top car batteries are also available in Norway. You won't need anything else. (Well, a battery charger, of course.) I had one in my house with the JISCO option for a week and now another without it. With the DP-75V there is little difference, but with lesser transports JISCO is a must.
If you have more questions, write to Charles. I heard he is honest and helpful. It is true, that the DAC looks a bit "industrial" in the living room, but I just bought a nice wooden box from India for the car battery...
