I know there are plenty of posts about these in the archives; many focus on the technical issues, but I would like to get a better idea of the sonics of each of these (not necessarily a decision on which is "better"):Lavry DA10 fed by an Airport Express or HagUSB
Wavelength Brick
Current digital is an Audio Aero Prima CDP. No reason to really to move on from the Prima (except that it does not have a digital in). I am really more looking toward building up a PC-based system. Everything will be driven by some kind of Mac. The Lavry would offer more flexibility but the Brick offers the intriguing S/PDIF-less interface.
Also, I listened to a Museatex John Wright Bitstream last week. Amazing impact and drive, much more than the Audio Aero, but not quite the same tone, and rich detail as the Prima. The Museatex seemed to work much better with the Museatex CD-D drive than driven by the Airport Express, indicating that it might have a lower resistance to jitter as well.
All comments appreciated. Thanks.
With best wishes,
Rene

There's reviews of both in the Ultra Fi Times, www.ultrafitimes.com
Larry, thanks for the link to Ultra Fi times. Is there a review of the Lavry DA10? I saw the HagUSB and Brick reviews in two different issues, but did not see one fo the Lavry. Thanks,
Rene

hi rene, i'm coming from an audio aero prima dac and try many "new dacs" avalaible
(WAVELENGTH brick , ALTMAAN attraction dac, EMPIRICAL audio offramp turbo, moded airport express, and LESSLOSS dac 2004,)
none of these are craps, but they are very different sounding , on the warm side you have the BRICK and the attraction dac ( very smooth dac , analog sounding but with less micro information and treeble extension than the others..)
then you have a very good USB/spdif converter with the OFFramp, with many option of power supply and usbor wifi converter ( a little expensive , but with a "good" dac you can have a killer combo)
then , at last but not least the LESSLOSS dac 2004 a very good sounding battery dac
whith good details, extensions, and smooth sounding.. ( it(s lituanian dac, good company contact, possible master/slave otpion dac,)
Juanitox, thanks for your response. Can you elaborate on the differences between the Wavelength Brick and the Audio Aero Prima DAC? Tha would be very helpful for me.With best wishes,
Rene
