Hi, I have a SCD-1 I'm trying out & it's quite noisy while loading a disc (more so than anything else I've had.) It's a mechanical noise in the unit...not through speakers (I am familiar with the "burst" of noise at the end of some sacd's.)Is that a trait on these? THANKS for any feedback.
Kind Regardsw, Rob

The sliding door may have too much friction. Sony recommends placing copper strips below it.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Hi, There is a mod from Sony applying copper sheets under the loading door to reduce the friction.
The burst of noise at the end of some disks has to do with a chip that can be replaced by Sony. If you mail me I can send you a file describing the problem and solution. Confronted with that document Sony reluctantly replaced the chip. (And dropped the player on a concrete floor, but that's another story)

No.
