Darn, our dastardly secret's been uncovered! In fact, we haven't
updated the list since it was last compiled by J. Gordon Holt in
1985 and I'm astonished that you're the only one to have spotted
that fact. :-)

Follow Ups:
I have read/subscribed to Stereophile for the last 20 years or so, and plan to renew this month. But I cannot remember a time when the RadioShack 18-gauge stranded hookup wire did not appear on the list of recommended components. It is undoubtedly good value for the money (good fishing line is probably more expensive), but must it be listed under "recommended" particularly since the magazine does not differentiate by levels in the cable category? Has anyone on the staff used it in the past couple of decades?
Geeh, fella can't exercise any rehtorical flush. Only the editor can exagerate for effect. ;-)Dastardly secert the rec list was unchanged, of course not. Everyone knows that in six months there are so few changes as to be inconsequential. So the list is virtually a repeat from last fall's. So why should anyone be excited? This is just your basic rehash. Did J. Gordon Holt ever publish rec lists 6 months apart?

Nope. I was making fun of your statement, is all.

Gordon had problems publishing magazines that often :-)

And I was making fun of your magazine, its repetition and lack of new ideas.
> Gordon had problems publishing magazines . . ..Don't understand your put down of Gordon. After all you where the one who invoked Holt's name in gandeous, saintly fashion. Now you poke fun a him as an incompentent editor. Which is gonna be?
Oooh, by the way, how's your circulation? The magazine's that is? ;-)

Both. By his own admission, Gordon never published on a regular basis.
See, for example, www.stereophile.com/asweseeit/484
and www.stereophile.com/asweseeit/483 ,
specifically the notes at the foot of each essay.

Up. Just got our ABC "pink sheet" for the last 6 months of 2006.
(Please note that in contrast to The Absolute Sound, Stereophile's circulation is audited.)
