I think the review was mainly done by David Clark? He was pretty upset because of turn-on-off transients that blew up his sub. That Michael Yee-designed stuff was full of rough edges. The amp did measure like a tube amp, but what was the point? Most tube guys will just buy a real tube amp.
Salvatore has a tendency to denigrate most everything, even previous favorites, probably because he concentrates on finding "the best", but did you notice he's now using a Behringer digital EQ!! What's up with that!? Seems completely out of step with most of his preferences.
I didn't agree with everything Aczel said, but I liked the way he said it.
"Salvatore has a tendency to denigrate most everything, even previous favorites, probably because he concentrates on finding "the best", but did you notice he's now using a Behringer digital EQ!! "Now that is a surprise! Forced to choose between a good, effective product and audiophilia digita hokey-pokey, he chose an effective product. wise man.

I thought Aczel *liked* amplifiers that blew stuff up or that had crappy measurements. He seems the find the "well designed" stuff enormously boring, in the case of "well designed" amplifers particularly so since they, of course, don't even warrant listening.... that Aczel, what a piece of work!
