It's still a bargain.
HiFi+ costs about $150 for eight issues.
Where else can you get as many minutes of entertainment for under 20 bucks?
No price increase in four years with the cost of everything going through the roof is exemplary.

Sure. I never said or meant to imply otherwise. In fact, I renewed at that price.
I just don't care for the sleazy (and in my opinion completely dishonest) way in which the bargain is being "sold."

You are mistaken. Many magazines give a special price for the first year which is only available to NEW readers, not renewals. They hope you won't cancel so you can get the NEW price. In this case $10 a year for commiting to 2 years is a heck of a deal and way better renewal offer than most mags give.

I don't recall saying that they didn't. So what exactly is it that I'm mistaken about?

what I was saying that it's usually only a special price for the first year. Usually after that you pay the regular sub price which even tho it will drop if you wait long enough isn't as low as the intro cost. Whatever, Stereophile costs so little for a sub the complaints shouldn't be about the price.
