I read both magazines because they have different strengths. Frankly, I find the reviews in Stereophile to be more comprehensive than TAS. Sound of the reviews in TAS leave my wanting more information. I get more useful information such as set up tips and room size. I enjoy the roundtable discussions and HP's workshop in TAS. I don't mind the astronomical prices of the items reviewed in both magazines cause I'm not going to buy them. However, I am most interested in the trials and tribulations that the reviewer went through to make them sound their best. That's just the tweaker in me poking out. I miss Jonathan Scull's fine tunes and I miss the directness of Corey Greenberg ("that piece of equipment sucks"). Both nagazines have become too politically correct.
Follow Ups:
the reviews are like an appetizer to actually hear the merchandise.

Tommy,
I understand what you're saying. I don't mean to trash either magazine. As I said I read both and look forward to them every month. I've also haqd a much longer history of reading Stereophile than I have TAS so I may have an inherent bias due to famiarrity and the resulting expectations.

Tommy,
I wasn't quite sure what you meant by your comment. Rather than make an inaccurate assumption, I'd like a few more dots from you to complete the picture. Please expound.
Mike
