I need a long IC (RCA) between my pre (which will probably be a Shindo Monbrison, LAMM LL2 or Cary SLP 98P) and Quickie Triodes. I am thinking about Quicksilver IC's at $100 per meter. Any other suggestions up to around $1000 or so? What about Synergistic alpha sterling? The IC should not be very fragile. Speakers are Merlin VSM's.
Thanks
Follow Ups:
Purpose-designed for long runs. Flat, goes under carpeting nicely.
The Alpha Core TQ2 silver IC, which I like as much as more expensive ICs I own, is around $550 for 5 meters.
I also use 5m ICs, and I have tried a lot. If you can DIY, the very best I have found that I now use is Belden 89207. Its a twisted teflon insulated pair with very low capacitance.
You can get it from Take Five Audio for about $3.00 per ft.
Just add whichever RCAs you like and let them burn in for at least 100 hours.You will be very happy, I still find it hard to believe, it has everything, very clean with great top to bottom extention.
The only negative is that its a little stiff so you cann't make real sharp bends.
Check it out before you spend $1000.
Pure Note paragon should be in your price range.
I would keep my eyes on the used cables posted on Audiogon. I have seen Cardas Cross, Luminous Audio, and other relatively decent cables in that price range for 5M. You might also look into a simple DIY project using one of the readily available bulk IC cables such as the DH Labs or Kimber sold by Partsconnexion, or the Neotech sold by VH Audio, and your choics of connectors. If an immediate solution is needed, this would be a good place to start while looking at other options;
