Just received a new pair of IC's with Eichmans that wouldn't fit on the posts. Previous ones did.Several archive posts that decry the need to heat the plugs.
I put the hot pin in and heated the plastic collar from about 6" away with my heat gun on high for a 15 count, then pushed. Just as advertised, went right on.
Follow Ups:
No, but they can be snug. I've never had a set that required heating though.
i luv Bullett's, its no secret. they are a beast to remove though sometimes. Most of my gear is on mounts & usually have to grab the chassis securely to wiggle them off.
Actually, once on, thry're snug but not tight.Seems like forcing them on w/o heat might displace the ground wire but Pogue is 36 and 0 so that method must work, too.
Yesterday we got a nice used set of Harmonic Tech ICs we had been waiting for to replace unshielded ones I had made.Excited to hear less noise, I was momentarily crushed to find the bulkier connectors wouldn't fit our phono-preamp because its RCAs are to close together. With beads of sweat forming on my forehead, I found that if I aligned the flats on the twist-locks I could get them both on at the same time.
I've never had to do this and at last count have 36 Bullet Plugs in the system. With any that show signs of being a really tight fit, I force it onto an RCA jack of some off-line piece of gear, work it on and off a couple of times, and from then on it's fine. Frankly, the heat gun idea seems like a pain, but that's me :-)
