In Reply to: Musical Outlet, Looking at Oyaide SWO-GX or Furutech FP-15A (Cu) posted by ssglx on April 19, 2007 at 14:59:22:
It depends on what AC plug is connected to your choice of AC outlet. IME, the Oyaide SWO-GX is certainly higher performance but is more connector dependant than the Furutech FP-15A(Cu) which mates well with just about any AC plug. If you plan to use power cords with ordinary AC plugs, you might want to check out the new 2007 Furutech FP-15A(Cu)-N1. It's more rigid and offers a stronger grip than the older model FP-15A(Cu) for only several bucks more. My best guess is the new model will likely sound more vibrant and detailed while still maintaining the older model's musicality and AC plug versatility. Chris VH (VH Audio) thinks highly of the new line... toss him an email with questions about your wants/needs.
Follow Ups:
Duster, Al, et al.,I'm really trying to figure out which is the most realistic of 2 potential routes on the outlet & plug upgrades. Money DOES matter here; it's the primary limiting factor. With 4 duplexes and 8 plugs in my system, whatever I do will be costly to me, so I want the best bang for the bucks.
I cannot simply afford to go all Oyaide. In fact, I'd be lucky to go one major Oyaide outlet or maybe 2 at best. I can afford to replace all with Furutech Cu over time.
You guys who've now tested them seem to say 2 things consistently that don't lead to the same conclusions: 1) that they're both great, but Oyaide is a step or two above Furu; and 2) that plug/outlet synergy is highly important to the sound of either outlet, and Oyaide is more sensitive to those plugs than Furu.
Sooooo, if one Oyaide at the wall would be that good as to overshadow positively the downstream plugs and outlets, then that's a way I can go. But if plug to outlet synergy is more important overall, then I have to go Furu.
Can you guys with direct comparison experience guide me from your impressions as to which way would likely produce the best results?
Hi bartc, did you receive my April 15th reply to your April 14th email?

Still not coming through. Try me directly: bcharlow@aol.com
I sent the original reply and the resend to that address. This is not the first time I've found issue with AOL email accounts not receiving my emails. If you happen to have a non-AOL email address (such as MSN Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, or another web-based email service), please send it via my AA email...
