They may not be quite as detailed as my reference Pure Note "Paragon Enhanced", but they are by far the smoothest, full-bodied, and most well-organized (in terms of definition and image specificity)copper cable I have ever heard. In fact, they bested a couple of well-regarded silver cables I had on hand to compare at the time. The Varial is marginally better than the Gede. The Gede is a real bargain in high-end cables.
Since this is all about synergy and system balance, YMMV of course...

Follow Ups:
The Varials are Silver! and the Luminous Audio Monarch II's smoked the Gede's in my system. The Gede's seem to collapse the sound stage. By the way I am not dissing Zu, my Ht system is completely wired with Zu! Also my Seas Thors and their external x-overs are internally wire with Zu Wax.
.
I stand corrected.
That said, I had the total opposite experience than you in my system.
After break-in, each and every Zu Cable I have ever tried has had the uncanny ability of throwing a very broad soundstage. In depth, they are bested by the Pure Notes, but it is far from "collapsed".I guess it's all about synergies...
