.......Hi Jeff, I took a closer look at the 72VDC Colorado battery pack and with a little pursuation, I got the Cheetah mini plug to fit in the recess.NOW were talking something special!! The Cheetah's with the 72VDC battery pack are damn near the Colorado's with the exception if what can be described and a little added midbass warmth that the Colorado's seem to have. The Cheetah's now posses an inner clarity that is hard to imagine....not to mention the presence of the 3-D soundstage.
I moved the 24VDC Cheetah battery pack over to the Colorado's and with the Cheeta from the CD player to the preamp and the Colorado from the preamp to amp, this is one magical combo :-)
I heading to Music Direct online right now and buying the 72VDC upgrade battery pack for the rest of my AQ IC's/speaker cables.
Cheers,
Thanks for the input. Wonder what a 72V Panther would sound like? I suspect that I am going to put Music Direct on speed dial.Going out of town for a bit, won't be able to follow this thread until next weekend.
Have a safe trip my friend.I have to relay what happened today as it just goes to show what an excellent Co. AudioQuest is.
I called about purchasing some Y-adapters for the batteries that I will be no longer be using on the cables that I'm upgrading to 72VDC. I plan on using the unused batteries from the Panther's and Cheetah's on my Volcano speaker cables and my set of Jaguars in the bedroom system and this requires the Y adapters for the added increase in bias voltage on the IC's.
Get this...AQ is shipping me the 6 Y-adapters free of charge just for the asking :-)
My hat is off to AQ for their customer service.
Cheers,

Just can't imagine using any cable other than AQ cable! Maybe I should amend that statement to 'any cable other than AQ DBS cable'.How did Art Dudley come to the conclusion that DBS is all smoke and mirrors and makes no difference?
"How did Art Dudley come to the conclusion that DBS is all smoke and mirrors and makes no difference?"I have wondered about that myself.
I used to read his articles with interest as he seemed to be one of the more grounded reviewers out there. It was when I read his article on the Cheetah's and he stated he heard absolutely zero difference with the DBS connected/disconnected, and had a belittling attitude towards DBS, my interest greatly waned and cast a cloud of doubt over all he has written.
It's very interesting though that his boss uses the Cheetah's and the Kilimanjaro speaker cables in his reference system. JA has always been a big fan of AQ cables.
Cheers,
I recall something about a week before the benefits of the DBS system become audible, and I expect that would happen when one increases the charge, too.

It's been about 12 hours now and still sounds very good.I would surmise that to fully charge the dielectric would take no more than a few days with the 72VDC battery pack but just applying the DC voltage from the get-go provides a noticable improvement across the whole spectrum.
Maybe on the 24VDC batteries it might take a week to hear the attributes the DBS brings but I can hear quite a change just by unplugging the 24VDC battery packs, listening and then plugging the batteries back in.
Cheers,
Hey Jeff,While I could probably do that, I would rather not as I would have to trim quite a bit. The Panther's mini plug molding is barrel shaped and the Colorado's is cylindrical.
The recess in the battery pack is about 8mm's in depth and the recess molding angle is such that most of the barrel would need to be trimmed away.
Maybe an mini adapter of some kind......hhhmm.
Cheers,
The 72V DBS upgrade packs are intended for the older cables with DBS. Probably AQ made two types 72V DBS packs. I had to push firm to get the Panther mini plug into the recess. I'm looking forward to your experiences with the Panther. I was wondering why the Panther is a better choice for CD to pre-amp connection than the Cheetah.
I am setup the same way--Panther; CD to preamp; Cheetah; preamp to amp. Just a flatter, more natural sound. However, make no mistake, the Cheetah is definitely the better cable.
" I'm looking forward to your experiences with the Panther."Guess it's going to be awhile as MD is back ordered on the 72VDC battery packs :-(
"I was wondering why the Panther is a better choice for CD to pre-amp connection than the Cheetah."
It sounds more organically whole/coherent in my system when I run the Panthers from the CD player, into a Sonic Euphoria TVC preamp and then the Cheetah's from the preamp to the amp.
Cheers,
