i have a P&S 5262 cryo'd, its SO bright and harsh sounding. If you ever decide to upgrade just a bit, get a warmer sounding audio designed outlet and install a new male plug (from same mfgr as new outlet) onto the power strip which feeds all your gear.
there are still steps to go, baby steps from here though.
Follow Ups:
I had mine cryoed and it was still giving me problems. I had it cryoed a second time and burned in on the cable cooker and it smoothed out like nobody's business. What you say about the outlet/male source plug sychronicity makes sense. I'll keep that in mind.
the synergy between the nice outlets and their male plug counterparts is undeniable to my ear. Oyaide + Oyaide = smiles. Same should be true for most mfgrs, that's the only 1 I have the most 1st hand experience with.double cryo'ing might be a huge lark...cryoing once is a proven thing though - to me anyways.
I haven't had the chance to have any of my stuff actually cooked, but someday when i figure 'i'm done' i'll send my cables out to a cooker somewhere.
i only say double cryo is a lark 'cuz of a friend who is really into auto racing. Most, if not all, high performance engine parts are cryo'd now, especially for the weekend enthusiast. the car won't go faster, but can be driven harder for longer...parts wear out 40% slower...or last 5 more races or some shit. IF double cryo'ing the stuff helped even 5% more, they'd do it. Kinda funny, a normal crankshaft might be $200 whereas the cryo equiv is $205. they don't mark up the service much at all & the effects are not debated...
It's a cheap upgrade and I've noticed significantly quieter, clearer, more realistic sound with larger soundstage, better detailing and extended frequencies every time I've done it. Plus, Alan at audioexcellenceaz is a prince to deal with.
