Should get it in the next day or so... I went ahead and built a burn in adapter, and have a question about what's the best appliance to use for burn in. I was thinking about the using the fridge, it's the only thing that draws a lot of current that's on all the time. I don't know how long I'll be able to wait before I install the cable on my CDP! Is there a better (shorter time) way to achieve a decent burn-in? I know I'm going to be tempted to try the cord right away. Maybe I can burn it in in the evenings after I shut the system down, but then I fear that the cord won't "settle" if I'm plugging and unplugging it daily. God help me!
Follow Ups:
Your Powercord will take a very long time to burn in on a CDP.
A CDP will only draw about 25-30 watts of AC power. Burning it in on an air cleaner, your computer, a fridge or a 100watt incandescent lightbulb like someone else mentioned.
The VH powercords are good out of the box, but putting it on your Computer for a week or 2 will really help it along.
Most leave thier Computer on and will draw about 300 watts from the AC.Here's what I have done in the past more than a few times.
I buy the VH wire in Bulk all Flavors. Put a daisy chain of flavors on my frige and alot of the times it's on there for months.
I have made many DIY Power Strips + Power Cords for myself and some friends as well. If I or a friend need a Power cord I go to the Frige and cut off the lenght I need and I'm ready to go as connections are also burning in.
I then go back to the Frige and get a beer after all that hard work!! Another good use for a Frige!
Right out of the box they are much more musical than all the DH labs pc's i've used for years & i haven't minded listening for the duration of burn-in. there's bass, wide imaging and no harshness. Completely the opposite of the 3 DH Power Plus AC cables i own.Right now my power strip has a new DIY Flavor 2...its about 10 days old. I ordered it for my phono pre but plugged it in this spot for a thorough burn-in. Now, it affects everything so well that i need a new cable for the phono.
with any other cable i'd say to plug it into an air cleaner, your computer, a fridge or a 100watt incandescent lightbulb...not with chris' stuff though.
no affiliation.
I can be very impulsive when it comes to audio! Planning to burn a cable in for two weeks before listening and actually waiting out the two weeks are very different!
I know exactly how you feel.to date i've purchased new anti-cables and anti-IC's, loads of cat5 for sp cable recipes, 3 indiv lengths of dh labs power plus ac cable & a few other decent cables (nuthin fancy). Except for CV's unshielded twisted pair, they all sounded pretty bad out of the box. Inserting a brand new Flavor 2 into a system of well burned in cables and gear was not painful...much to my surprise.
the instant improvemtn to the imaging kept the cable in...try putting them out of the wall socket and powering a source or 2. after a week i forgot i was burning anything in.
....to assist you with this conditioning process. He works in the city.
Just plug your new PC into wall outlet for refrigerator, then plug in
PC Adapter on end of your new PC. Then plug in refrigerator cord into
adapter. Now Your Cooking!!!
Mine just has a short length of cable between the two plugs. Function is the same.

"hooking up a power cord to a fridge really doesn't do all that much!
It's a myth that seems to run rampant in the audio world. When the fridge cycles the cord is in use, when the fridge isn't
cycling it sits there dormant. So most folks who take the time to do it, really don't get much out of it unless they plan on leaving there fridge and freezer door open and letting the fridge run 24/7.
Also anybody who is married is never going to get away with that and anybody who would actually do it, needs help"!
I have found the fridge to be a good break in tool for a new power cord. That big white thing in your kitchen draws a bunch more current than a cdp, dac, or preamp.....24 hours on a cord and Id say its about 90% broken in. But if you dont believe in break in, then it doesnt really matter...

I believe in break in; I just think you need to read my comment better.

Fridge is a good choice, plugging and unplugging from fridge to system and back again won't have any detrimental effects.
