In Reply to: just got some Anti Cables with eichmann bullet plugs. but they wont' fit on my RCA jacks. posted by hukkfinn on March 7, 2007 at 12:20:48:
.................... and I'll say it again. Simplest method for installing cables with Eichmann Bullet plugs:1) Hold the plug in your hand with your thumb on the top.
2) Twist your hand a quarter turn to the left.
3) Place the plug into the socket
4) Secure the front of the component with your other hand.
5) In one go, push the plug into the socket while twisting your wrist a quarter turn to the right.Works every time. I have fitted hundreds of EBP onto cables, and installed hundreds of cables fitted with EBP. I have never melted one from soldering, have never used a hair dryer, have never found an RCA female that was too tight (steady on boys), and have never broken an EBP.
Obviously some aspects of audio and DIY are just beyond some people's capabilities. Apologies up front if I come off a bit cocky and confident, but that's the way I see it.
Follow Ups:
Tight fit is good in lots of things! Eichmanns are tight but good. I put mine on like the poster sugested, I lucked into ithat after I found it tough to just put them on like any old RCA.
Does the tightness add anything to the sound quality? If not than why make them so tight? Seems like overkill, and though you haven't had a problem there is still the risk of it happening. Yes?
They have to be tight. They're plastic, remember, If they start out loose, they would soon start falling out of the jacks. And because the ground connection does not encircle the jack, they have to be tight, but I already said that. As with other posters here, I've NEVER had a problem with them. If they scare you, don't use them.Oh, and they're easier to solder than any other plugs I've used. And my soldering is PATHETIC :-)
