I would not even consider buying one of the Nordost Valhalla cables U mentioned unless proof of factory retermination or factory authorized retermination can be provided."How should an inexperinced buyer know that this is not a factory termination?"
The Valhalla cable is not terminated with Eichmann connectors nor are the Eichmann connectors offered as an option from the factory.
Nordost uses what they call "Profi" connectors and as can be gleened from the link provided, are a crtical link in the cables performance." The price of such cable should be lower than a factory terminated one I think."
Absolutely. Like I said, I would not even consider the "modified" Valhalla cables for the reasons stated above.

Follow Ups:
The Valhalla interconnects use the WBT Nextgen silver connectors. Anyway, beware of all the re-terminated cables for the following reasons:
1) Sometimes a different connector let the cable sound worst
2) It's not easy to make a good job on some cables if you do not know how to
3) The quality of the solder used is important as well as the quality of the job done
4) A not factory re-terminated cable to me equals "no value"
Hope this can help.

"The Valhalla interconnects use the WBT Nextgen silver connectors."Uumm, for the RCA connections....they do NOT use WBT connectors, they use "Profi" as they refer to it. These have a spring loaded ground connector/sleeve. As for the balanced connections, I'll have to take your word for it. If I'm wrong, please point me in the direction that proves otherwise.
I agree 100% with everything else U pointed out, especially #4 :-)

Thank you Kenster for your comments, but I cannot agree with you about the connectors on The Valhalla. I'm a Nordost dealer since last year and I've met Lars Kristensen of Nordost who explained to me all about Nordost and why they changed the connectors. I can only agree with him, less mass = better sound!
Regards
Thanx for the follow-up.I was just going by the Valhalla picture on their website and the fact that no mention of a change in connectors could be found on the website either.
Have U compared a Valhalla IC with the "Profi" vs. the WBT connectors?
Cheers,
I'm sorry but I've not had the chance!
I have only the new one in stock, but I will try to make the comparison.
Regards.
Thanks for all good info. The fact remains that many Valhalla seems to be reterminated. If you could get a reterminated Valhalla for 50% less than the original perhaps you could take the chance?
I dont understand however why people reterminate them in the first place thus lowering the value. Is it possible to buy bulk length of Valhalla and cut and terminate them by yourself? Could there be a profit in this?
Is ther fake Valhallas on the market? I read a dispute on Audiogon about person who sold a AudioNote silver cables wich turn out to be a fake made in China.
