Do you have the answer or are you part of the problem?

I'm using a Behringer EP1500 and Dayton RCS-to-1/4" adapters (in a home audio setup), both from P.E. I don't know if I'm "loosing" anything but driving my Maggies, it sounds mighty fine.Being a hopeless DIY'er, I bought some 26ga silver-plated copper/Teflon insulated, solid core wire on ebay, twisted it up, soldered on some Dayton RCA plugs and installed it between my CD player and pre-amp.
I like it so much, I'm making another IC with RCA plugs on one end and 1/4" phone plugs on the other for the pre-to-amp connection. If you have any soldering skills and an IC you like, you could always commit a little surgery and replace the RCA plugs on one end with 1/4" phone plugs.
HowdyEvery connection looses a little, but I wouldn't worry about it until everything else is sounding great and you want to "polish" your system.
What's less obvious from your post is if you are converting from balanced to unbalanced (or visa versa) with this adapter and if so what is happening with the other signal. Depending on the topology of the balanced driver or receiver (if any) you might be loosing some noise immunity or worse shorting a signal. You might check your owner's handbook or talk to the manufacturer. Once again, if it works I wouldn't worry about it till you are tuning up your system.
What does loosing mean?

HowdyNo connection is perfect and in my experience each adds a little grunge or looses a little transparency at minimum. In general you want to avoid as many connections as possible, but I don't take it to the limit and hardwire my components together or to the power :)
They will work fine you would lose nothing.
maybe. Audiophile, not a chance.
