I am trying to select a decent cord for my tubed preamp. Under consideration is the Audience Power Chord and the PS Audio xstream Statement. Both cords though give me concerns. On this forum, some have apparently experienced a "thinness" in the top end with the Statement cords (for at least a couple of users). It seems to me that this would especially be a concern with tubed gear as I would be intending its use. I believe a desirable way to go for tubed equipment would be silver plated copper cords. (I'd like to go this way - but cost becomes a little prohibitive).
The Power Chord utilizes no shielding with its design and relies on its low impedance design to avoid RFI anomalies. This is a very different approach than most cords it seems.
I intend to shop over Audiogon to save some cash, so the ability to audition is not possible. I'm trying to make the best decision based on reviews and other user recommendation.
Can anyone give me their ideas on my concerns for the intended use on a tubed preamp? Should I really purse the silver route, or is the Power Chord and/or Statement cords going to give me the performance level needed?
Thanks
Mike

I am not kidding.
Stay away from that PS Audio stuff, when it comes to power cords.I have heard wonderful things about the Audience Power Chord and I'm actually thinking of getting one myself.
The amp is a Sim Audio Moon W5. The pre amp is a McIntosh C2200. The DAC is a Musical Fidelity A3 24.
i also find the audience pc great for digital gears like transport & dac.
For amps, the tg powercords are still my preference, although the audience pc aint that bad for power amps too.
Email me regarding the PS Audio Statements...
I own both of these power cords. I have found that most of my gear likes the PS Audio Statement and, even better, the new Statement SC. I would not describe either of these cables as imparting a thinness. Quite the opposite, I find that the PS Audio cords have a very full, large sound that extends into the high frequency. The Statement SC has a bit better high end than the original Statemtent. However, for my tube amp, the Audience wins hands down. I have tried a bunch of different cords (Shunyata, PS Audio Premier SC, VH Audio Airsine, Ecosse, etc.) and this is the best I have found. Other reviewers have mentioned that the Audience consistently works well where other things fail. I have found nothing to beat the Audience on my power amp.
Well:I had a chance to go for a PS Audio Statement, so that's what I've done. At the time I couldn't manage a buy for the Power Chord, otherwise that would have been my preference.
We'll see how it (the Statement) performs when I get it in my system. The two other cords I have are the Black Sand Violet Z1 (on the DAC) and a Harmonic Technology Fantasy AC10 on the power amp. The Statement I'll put on the tubed pre.
I have both those cords as well. The Black Sand is an awesome piece for the money. That sounds like the right configuration to me...what kind of amp and pre are you running?
