the only real weakness of Palladium I can see, i.e. leanish low bass?I do love Palladium of all the metals I've tried, but the only Palladium-based cable I've listened to so far that avoids the bass issue has been Silversmith Palladiums. Then again, that cable uses a secretive Palladium alloy..
Follow Ups:
Hey Jon,As an engineer, I will shed some light on the latest Palladium craze. Palladium is the new buzzword, IMO. The metal has poor conductivity so it must be alloyed (typically silver). There are many "recipes" available and the cost for this wire is about ten times that of silver. Siltech learned long ago that gold/silver alloys took the edge off plain silver (they are also in the mining business). There is more to a cable than the wire. IMO, the dielectrics are just as critical. Witness the cotton vs. Teflon trend and air cores.
The Titanium’s do have more body and are sweeter than the Paragons. This is stated in their overview. The cables are rounding out now. Music sounds live than recorded. I now have the cable between my preamp/amp. I would suspect that a fully wired system would yield a true measure of these cables.
I've heard them in another system, but not my own. Did you get to try them in your own system? Did you keep them? The Silversmith Palladiums are one expensive interconnect. (3 ft RCA interconnect - $4000).
Regards,
Geoff
I have A-B'd the Silversmith Palladiums against ones I either own or know well in several systems.Basically, I've come to the conclusion that no cable is 100% neutral or without signature, but the signature of Silersmith Palladiums is one of the least (if not the least) objectionable so far..
The price IS the single biggest complaint I have, but you only need to look around to see how ridiculous some cables are priced, even the ho-hum ones.
The only unknown to me is comparison to the latest Virtual Dynamics cables; once I can get that done, perhaps I will actually pick up one or the other..
