i'm using 10 gauge belden from bluejeanscable.com. at $.57/foot, you can't go wrong!on my KEF Calinda/mcintosh MC60, the high frequency response is so much better than the anti cable, but the mids and bass are still there. there's a touch more "ambiance" with the anticable, but i much prefer the belden cable. IMHO of course.
I have the Anticables and love them.It seems I would by instinct get the thicker Mapleshades however if I were to decide on that route. The more strands the better!
Anticables are 12 gauge core copper, and as I said before I love them.
I've tried both. The mapleshades were much more microdynamic, punchy, transparent and extended in my system. I love them.
just for the next two days, I'd recommend Alpha-Core Goertz MI-2 spk cables, since this seems to be in the price bracket you are in. Best cheap cable out there bar none. Just need to make sure your amps are compatable "if" the cables do not include the RC Networks.
I've had both- right now using the Mapleshade Double Golden Helix Plus.On my Boston VR-M60s putting in the Mapleshade was a cut above the AntiCables- which were a cut above some Transparent I had been using. Just hooked up some Omega Hemptone speakers- and the recommended cable is Mapleshade- so far, things are sounding pretty darn good.
My impression was that the AntiCables were darker, more laid back. The Mapleshades are (oh I hate this phrase but it's accurate here) like a veil was taken off. Music isn't forward or bright, just clearer (in my system).
I also used the Mapleshade jumpers and AntiCables jumpers- again in my system, the Mapleshades were better.
One thing to consider- AntiCables are very stiff. Mapleshades are just plain wiry... and THIN. They have a mind of their own as well- wanting to twist this way and that.
So, depending on your system, one could be better than the other, both have a good return policy. My 2 cents- go for the Mapleshades.
