I'm a long time lurker and after reading the many posts about the Halloween cables I decided to give them a try...Damn!
They sound Really good so far (I have maybe 150 hours on them.) I am using one run, no terminations w/ 2 lugs tied for the return to my Klipschorns and am so pleased that I am going to go with a double run per speaker soon. I am currently using magnet wire for the internal wire for the Khorns, but am seriously thinking of going with the HD wire there as well.
I run either modded Bottlehead Paramours or a Phase Linear 400 for my power amps. Seems like the cables sound a bit better with the 400 though.
I did some searching, but didn't really see anything with reference to removing the orange outer. Any thoughts on removing the outer covering?
I'm wondering if I did, what would I do - just leave it or cover it with something.Next step is to get the cables off the carpet and do some more listening! I'm also in an IC building state of mind so ...
Thanks in advance for any and all input.

I would not remove outer covering , I think that it helps damp the cable . If your unhappy with the color , cover the cable with techflex and audiophile grade heatshrink on the wires . You could make it look very professional with a small amount of effort .
What were you using before? I actually picked up a 25ft roll in HD, walked around in the store with it, looked at it, and returned it to the shelf.
I just couldn't bring myself to doing it. I just replaced all my DHlabs a few months ago with Kimber 4TC, which I love.
My garage is a cable graveyard, one has to take control sometime, there is only so much medication can do. :((
I've seen some people mention the 14 gauge Royal Cable you can get at Wall-Mart in these budget cable threads. They say it's better than HD-14.I'm trying it out right now - about a day so far. They sounded shrill at first, but now they're starting to open up now.
I haven't tried HD-14 yet. Any thoughts from someone who's tried it and the Royal Cable 14?
