which if removed would make it much easier to get good contact. However, that screw doesn't feel like it wants to come out and I don't feel like breaking a $100 AC plug to find out. I bought some extra wires and plan to compare the cryo-parts wire and the VH flavors with a couple different Oyaide and Furu connectors. I'm already feeling like the 046 has set the bar pretty high.
Follow Ups:
Karmaceutical,Try the Furu FI-25R connectors. After trying every connector out there, I've found them to be the very best, and not by a little. Every other connector sounds pretty colored by comparison.
If the 046 sounds this good without burn in... the FI-25R has to be mind bendingly good. What wire did you use?
AZ Tsunami, Shunyata Taipan (pacesetter), Black Sand Violet.
Basically, the Furu FI-25R blows away everything else when used on a heavy-gauge cord (10 awg or better). The Oyaides are way too warm in the middle and tipped-up at the extremes when used with a true high-current cord. The only cord I have that liked the Oyaides better than the Furu was the BS Violet, but that's a pretty lightweight cord compared to the Shunyata or the AZ Tsunami. The Oyaides have a way of making the lighter gauge power cords sound 'bigger' than they actually are, but when you compare them head-to-head with a heavier cord with the Furu FI-25R connector, the heavy gauge cord clearly has more and tighter deep bass, and more realistic dynamics top to bottom. If you put the Oyaide on the same heavy-gauge cord, it makes it sound euphonic and flabby.
And since I regularly tee off on Oyaide products, I'll be fair and say that the Furu FI-25R (male and female) and FI-11cu (male only) are the only Furu AC connectors I like. The rest are way too bright for my tastes.
And how do the Furutech FI-25G connectors sound compared to the "R"?
The FI-25G is a much 'brighter' connector than the FI-25R. If you already have plenty of detail in the presence region upward, you're better off with the FI-25R.
