Have about 10 hours on this power cord.
I know it needs about 150 hours of burning in, but right now it just seems to suck- all the low bass-type frequencies seem to be way exaggerated in my system now - everything just seems really boomy.
Is this typical of how this cable sounds before it burns in, or am I wasting my time? At the moment, it's hooked up to a VAC 30/30 Mk.III amp.
The cord I upgraded from was a PS Audio Plus and right now that cord sounds heavenly in comparison.
Thanks for any input.

my Taipan Helix Alpha took about 200 hours to start sounding good. Initially it was closed in and soundstage was too narrow. Give it more time. Hook it up to your amp and have the amp on 24/7 for a week. It should definitely sound better than PS Audio.
I burned one in for over 250 hours. It never worked for me. I found it to rob dyamics way too much for my taste. Check out the new PS Audio Statement SC. I always deal with Walter at www.underwoodhifi.com.
I think the optimal Cooker time for the Shunyata Pythons and Anacondas is 2.5-3 days. You can do it for up to 4 days, but be warned that, initially, the sound will be overly warm and upper-bass-heavy.The Anaconda Helix Alpha has an even bigger midbass than the Python Helix. In most high-end audio systems (which tend to have too much bass), the Python Helix is often the better match than the more expensive Anacondas.
We don't know what cables can do, until they are properly Cooked. Now that my colleagues and I have used a Cable Cooker for a few year, we (a) wish we had one years ago, and (b) shake our heads at those who do not borrow/acquire one. Depending on cable type, you only need 2-4 days on the Cooker. Why suffer weeks of waiting for your Python to settle down, when you can just stick it on the Cable Cooker for 3 days, and be done with it?

In my experience, Shunyata cables need a long, long time for break-in. If you don't want to suffer, connect the Python to a refrigerator for a month with an adaptor. After that, put it back in the audio system and wait a week for stabilization. If you have enough patience this cable will reward you with transparency, bass control, excellent dynamics and a lot of detail.
