I just built some new bases for my monoblocks. I have a dedicated outlet which is located 9 inches from one IEC and 2 feet to the other. I was thinking about cutting my cords then soldering a new plug for each amp. Is that OK? If so is there a locally obtainable plug I can get at Lowes or Home Depot, or do i have to order?Does anyone sell (like cheap) a really short power cord that would work for me. I have searched old posts in this fourm, but still haven't answered my question.
My old bases were slabs of granite on an innertube, where I could hide the cord. New solid walnut base has no room to hide them.
Thanks to all that can help.

The Pass & Seymour 5266-X is available at Home Depot for about $12.00. It is of higher quality than the "clam shell" type plugs.
My area Home Depot carries the Pass & Seymour PS5965 in orange, grey and yellow. On this one, the brass blades were removed from the nylon housing, polished and reinstalled. This polishing can be done with a Dremmel rotary tool. Sounds pretty good too. Not bad for $4.99 and a little work.
Looks good to me!
And you certainly can't beat the price can you?
I also purchased my "audiophile" speaker wire at Home Depot.
They're called 12awg stranded, with crimped on spade lugs.
Now I can afford gas to drive to work!

I would go to the local electrical supply store and pick up a couple of 15A Hubbell plugs.
