I would appreciate if anyone can help me solve this. My speaker cables were given to me many years ago (about 1997 or so?) by someone I'm no longer in contact with. They are about 1 1/4 inch in diameter, and are a very flat dark blue in color(could almost be called blue-gray). Unfortunately, there is no writing on them, so I have no idea what I have! I may want to upgrade, but I know they're not total crap, because the person who gave them to me was upgrading and spend a whole lotta $ on her equipment at the time. Could these be Audioquest Indigo or Blue? Any help would be greatly appreciated (I'd hate to upgrade only to find that I already have something top-notch, like the Genalex Gold Lion AX7's I had sitting in a box for 10 years after replacing them with Chinese Gold Dragons. The Lions are back in place now!).
Follow Ups:
They are probably Monsters, I had a pair back in the early nineties that fit the discription. Almost anything today should be an upgrade.
I'm still kicking myself. I was watching a pair of Kimber 8tc (bi-wired with spades) today on E-Bay, and I got caught up in what I was doing and missed the end of the auction. They sold for $33 (plus $7 postage)! They might as well have been free. I would definitely have outbid the winner. Oh well, I'll keep searching. I'm not one to spend big bucks on my cables, but if I can do better than what I have for a reasonable price, I will...
I recently replaced my Mapleshade with Monster studio pro 1000 and I could not be happier. Cost : $50 for a 10ft stereo pair. Before the mapleshade I had AQ and Kimber. It's system and taste dependent, not brand.
Sorry I did not intend to dis your Monster, I also own some better monsters.
I only ment to imply that the design is much older,so anything more modern would probably be an upgrade.
I didn't take it as a "dis". I'm looking to upgrade, and I'm certainly open to any suggestions. I wish I hadn't missed the Kimbers, but maybe they wouldn't have been a good match for my warm system (Vandy 2ce sigs, CJ PV10a, Classe 15). The search goes on!
