I went out and bought some of that fancy Home Depot cables. Got enough for biwires. Yeah. I don't have enough to do. I'm not a DIYer due to time constraints, but this looks simple enough and I am able to work well with my hands. So where do you get spades that will work with these? I tried Rat shack to no avail

I'm blaming Grailer for getting me going. I just took some pictures. Dave Pogue. I suspect we have to blame him for getting Grailer going. Blame Paul Seydor for being a boutique cable skeptic willing to try something cheap, then having the utter impudence to defy the established cable manufactures and publish his findings. It rolls uphill.... the blame that is..8-)Disclaimer: I don't know anything except that they sound better (to me )than the Monster 2RCL cables I was using.

When I made some for friends, I used the gold RS spades with the largest openings and they crimped down tightly, though it does take a little work. You need to twist the three wires as tightly as possible before forcing them into the openings. I used Caig Pro Gold and Walker SST on the bare copper ends to help aqchieve the best possible connections.
I looked around for a cheap but decent spade and then found these at Homegrown audio. Silver plate on copper. Fits 1/4 to 3/8 lugs. Not too pricey. Link below (I'm not affiliated)
After all of the wrapping with teflon tape, shotgunned and bi-wired. Things get a little crowded at the amp lugs. Works though. I use a wrench (lightly) to put that last bit of torque on 'em.Have fun with it. I did. Still am.
btw. ProGold. Good stuff.

Its not regular plumbers tape I suppose?

For some applications, it works a little better because of its thickness.Basically the same stuff as the white plumber's tape, just thicker.
I used the widest tape they had. 3/4inch @ $1.49 per roll. It took 3 full rolls to do all the wrapping.-Steve

...is what you want, artemus. 3x14ga is roughly 10ga. If you cannot hook them up bare-wire, you have some options. How about Sears' auto department next for battery cable terminators? =;-)
Try TakeFiveAudio.com or PartsConnexion for the usual suspects (Cardas, WBT, etc.). I bought Furutechs from ChrisVH at VHAudio. Overkill for Home Depot extension cord, perhaps, but it's fun to do.
PartsExpress' Dayton bananas aren't half bad either and inexpensive. I used them on my initial set of HD-14s.
You know this is partly your fault too dontcha? (-:
