I would think leaving the minus balanced signal open on the rca input ground would be better avoided. Is there anyway around this.
Follow Ups:
Most people won't take the trouble to re-configure their TT setup to run balanced. Doing it this way gives a quasi-balanced configuration (with slightly better sound quality) for those who are running single-ended.
Properly balanced could I be the first to notice this condition? or have you heard from others. Also if you noticed my question about wiring my VPI I'd appreciate your comments. Thanks,
< < could I be the first to notice this condition? > >No, there are plenty of people who use it balanced without any problems. Yours is the first complaint I've heard of, which is why I think there something wrong with your wiring setup. Again, the best thing to do is borrow a set of Ayre RCA - XLR phono cables and see if this cures the problem. (Remember, when using these you will still need a separate ground wire from the back of the phono stage to the interface box.)
