In Reply to: Looking for budget tube or "tubey" sounding SS pre *with* remote posted by Yashu on April 11, 2007 at 10:52:02:
well, at least it does not require retubing or tube rolling and comes with a remote.

Excuse me do you think that the "tubey" quality can be extended to all Naim preamps or it is peculiar of the model you mention ?
Thanks and regards,
A 112 had what characterised as *smooth and mellow* presentation than other Naim preamps I have listened to.I just assumed the original poster wanted a typical tube sound as that's what most people turn to a tube gear for the most part. i.e. warm, spacious and cuddly
I haven't dealt with older Naim pres other than several 52 variants, but newer reference series preamps do not sound either tube or solid state.
The Naim sounds very nice except it is over my budget. I did find something that looks promising at a good price, though...There are some hybrid integrateds from Jolida Audio that look very nice and they seem to fit what I am looking for... They even have a remote.
But... that naim sure looks nice... I really like the design and if I had a slightly higher budget I would probably be auditioning one.
Thank you very much for your extremely kind and valuable reply.
Kind regards,
