I have long found Parasound products have a hiss. I tried the PH850 preamp and hca1000 poweramp in my system and both produced a slight but noticable hiss thru the speakers I was using at the time. I thought it was a grounding problem and tried a cheater plug. I was never able to resolve the hiss. The hiss did not seem to affect the sound quality, but it was enough of an issue for me to return the equipment. On paper, your system doesn't seem to have any weak links, but this depends on your room and program material.
What do you think is lacking?

It is probably the preamps. (I did not design them so please don't blame me.)
IF your A23 power amp has input pots, you might try to turn then down a bit. One problem that we have, today, is that we HAVE to meet THX specs and that means extra high gain in the power amp. This tends to amplify the noise in the preamp stage.
John,
I will try to turn down the gain on the A23. As I said in my original post the hiss doesn't effect the music. It's only noticeable when there is no source input. I'm going to try the passive pre section of the Creek into the A23 and see if it makes a difference.
Thanks for responding. Parasound is still the best value out there!
