Charles,First off, I have to say I absolutely love my amp. Now onto my question: I am buying a new rack for my equipment. It will be an open rack (4 posts and shelves, no doors etc...) but will have limited space height to work with between the shelves. My question is how much space I need to leave above the amp until the next shelf.
Thanks very much in advance for your help, making such musical products!

The manual says 3" to be on the conservative side. You would probably need this much (or more!) if it were in an enclosed cabinet. But with an open rack (no sides or rear, just open shelves), I think you could get away with much less. I like free.ranger's idea of mirroring the clearance of the bottom feet, which is 3/4".There are also thermal cutout switches that will shut the amp off it gets really hot. I'd go with a minimum of 3/4" in your particular situation.
charles, belated but good to see you back at it.
all the best to you and Happy Easter!

Thank you free ranger, enchantment and Charles. I was hoping you guys would say an 1" was ok :) That's what I think I will go with.

While waiting for other opinions/info, here's mine:
The amp has bottom clearance provided by its feet. Leave the same at the top.I have a V-5. Its one of the coolest running amps I know of.
