I would like to get a reliable used tube integrated which can use KT-88, 6550 or 6L6 power tubes. I listen to mostly Jazz, Classical and Vocals and will be driving a set of Altec VOTT speakers. Please provide suggestions for any well-built integrated amps models and mfgs. which you personally have found very reliable and have excellent customer service. I don't want to buy a used amp and end up with lots of problems. Thanks.
Follow Ups:
id go for a jolida 302b. considering your musical tastes.
Jolida 801 driving my A7s. Just got the amp last week so still evaluating, but so far I'm very pleased with the results.
Cheers
Cary SLI 80 Sig
I have been reading up on the SLI-80 and the Rogue Audio Tempest II. Do any of you have the Tempest II and how does it compare soundwise to the SLI-80? Which of the two will sound better with my VOTT speakers? Is the Tempest II as reliable? Has anyone dealt with Cary's or Rogue Audio's customer service and what is your experience? Thanks.
The Rogue stuff is also very reliable. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them. With regards to Cary, I've heard very good things about Dennis Had, the owner of Cary.
Second it (in terms of reliability).
Please tell me where to buy it new for less than $2000?
Try a Leben CS-300 with EL84's, its a great match with the VOTT's. All point to point wired, hand made in Japan with in house designed and wound output transformers.
They also sell an upgrade package that takes it slightly over 2K. It is as good an integrated as there is. Read the reviews of the Atlas, which is the power amp section. Also, the Cronus comes with an active preamp section, unlike most others that are passive. It matches well with accurate speakers, but can also make JMRs sing. I have only heard it with Quad, Monitor, JMR and Vandersteen speakers. It sounded good on all of them.
Primaluna Prologue II. Save some $. Built like a tank. Awesome service from Upscale Audio.
if it is anything like its big brother TAD-1000 it should prove very reliable. I have had my 1000s for two years and not one issue has arisen. Paul provides great CS and is a good guy in audio. Check out his web site @

This is a integrated amp ????
It has a volume control, but only one input. Not really what I would call integrated.
